"Art is not what you see..."

As a quote attributed to Edgar Degas reminds us, “[a]rt is not what you see, but what you make others see”. Over the holiday break from my classes, I’ve been able to indulge one of my favorite inspiration sources- the creative wonder women of YouTube. Some of the projects they’ve created recently were so jaw-dropping and inventive that I felt compelled to share them here:

Rachel Maksy not only created a Baby Yoda, she also had the completely ingenious idea to pose with it in the spirit of 1990s-era JC Penney studio family photos. Truly incredible :)

The Closet Historian has released two Hogwarts-inspired Lookbook videos, which are amazing both for the fashion but also the vintage scripts she writes and voices herself. Oh, and she created the set, to boot!

Last but not least, Christine McConnell recreated the Winchester House, in 500 lbs of gingerbread. And she lit it from within. And used modeling chocolate to create a perfect spider cameo homage to Sarah Winchester.
